Introducing Boxline
Isolated cloud sessions for AI agents: a browser, a shell and a shared disk on one machine. Now in private beta.
Today we are opening the private beta of Boxline: cloud sessions for AI agents and the developers who build them. A session is one isolated machine with a Chrome browser, an optional bash shell and a shared disk. You start it with one API call and pay for the seconds it runs.
Why one machine
Useful agent work rarely stops at the browser. A typical job looks like this: sign in to a site, download a CSV, analyse it, and upload the result somewhere. When the browser and the code live in different places, every step turns into moving files between them.
In a Boxline session they live together. Browser downloads land in /workspace/downloads, the shell works in the same /workspace directory, and the API can read and write files there. The agent signs in with the browser, downloads the CSV, analyses it with Python and uploads the result, all without the file leaving the machine.
What is in the beta
- Browser. Chrome you control with Playwright, Puppeteer or the Chrome DevTools Protocol, plus a live view you can watch and click in.
- Shell. An optional bash shell with Python and Node built in, with a persistent session, streaming exec and an interactive terminal.
- Files. The shared
/workspacedisk, with read, write, list and wait-for-file endpoints. - Lifecycle. Sessions start from a warm pool (our target is under one second). You can move a live session to a fresh machine in one call, and pause and resume it: state is saved and billing stops while it is paused.
- Contexts that keep logins between sessions.
- More APIs. An Actions API that runs clicks, typing and screenshots next to the browser, a Fetch API that turns a URL into markdown, HTML or text, and an Agent API that runs a Claude-powered agent on a task.
- Integrations. An MCP server so Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients can use sessions as tools, and a TypeScript SDK.
Isolation
Every session runs in its own gVisor sandbox, and sessions are never shared between customers. MicroVM isolation is on our roadmap. The security page has the details.
Pricing
A browser session costs $0.045 per hour, billed per second, with no per-session fee. Shell and sandbox resources are $0.045 per vCPU-hour plus $0.013 per GiB-hour. The Free plan includes a $5 usage credit every month. See pricing for the plans and a calculator.
What is next
Residential proxies, desktop (computer-use) sessions and GPU sessions are coming, as is microVM isolation. We will post each one in the changelog when it ships.
